Basak Efe, PhD
Clinical Psychologist
I provide individual therapy to adults. I strive to establish a collaborative relationship with my clients to promote healing and help them move towards a more meaningful and fulfilling life. I endeavor to provide a nonjudgmental setting where my clients can express and explore their thoughts and feelings. I assists clients in learning new ways to approach their internal experiences with openness and acceptance so they may become less threatening or overwhelming. I focus on helping my clients achieve a sense of freedom from distress, become more accepting of themselves, feel more connected to others, and build a life that is gratifying.
I have expertise in a range of evidenced-based therapies. I utilize different modalities flexibly in order to create client-based, personalized treatment. I mainly practice from the perspectives of Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Mindfulness, and Psychodynamic Therapy.
I provide treatment to individuals who suffer from depression, loss/grief, mood disorders, anxiety disorders, transitions between stages of life, and relational problems. I also have a specific interest in working with individuals from diverse cultural backgrounds. I enjoy learning and understanding my clients’ unique experiences within their own sociocultural context.
I earned my doctorate degree from University of Kansas and completed my pre-doctoral internship at South Shore Mental Health (rebranded as Aspire Health Alliance) and McLean Hospital in Massachusetts. My training included outpatient, inpatient, and partial hospital settings. I completed a postdoctoral fellowship at VA Boston Health Care System’s General Mental Health as well as Primary Care Behavioral Health Clinics. I held appointments at the Boston University School of Medicine and Harvard Medical School. Before founding Hillview Psychology, I worked several years as a Staff Psychologist at Commonwealth Psychology Associates/Life Stance Behavioral Health Newton-Wellesley office.
I am licensed in Massachusetts and a member of the Massachusetts Psychological Association.
